Carbonation rate of alkali-activated concretes and high-volume SCM concretes: a literature data analysis by RILEM TC 281-CCC

چکیده

Abstract The current understanding of the carbonation and prediction rate alkali-activated concretes is complicated inter alia by wide range binder chemistries used testing conditions adopted. To overcome some limitations individual studies to identify general correlations between mix design parameters resistance, RILEM TC 281-CCC ‘Carbonation Concrete with Supplementary Cementitious Materials’ Working Group 6 compiled analysed data for mortars from literature. For comparison purposes, blended Portland cement-based a high percentage SCMs (≥ 66% binder) were also included in database. analysis indicates that water/CaO ratio water/binder exert an influence on resistance concretes; however, these are not good indicators when considered individually. A better indicator under approximating natural appears be their water/(CaO + MgO eq Na 2 O K ) ratio, where subscript ‘eq’ equivalent amount based molar masses. Nevertheless, this can serve as approximate at best, other affect concretes. In addition, database points peculiarities accelerated tests using elevated CO concentrations low-Ca concretes, indicating even relatively modest concentration 1% , may lead inaccurate predictions exposure conditions.

Progress of Carbonation in Chloride Contaminated Concretes

Concretes used in marine environment are generally under the cyclic effect of CO2 and chloride ions (Cl -). To date, the influence of carbonation on ingress of chloride ions in concretes has been widely studied; in comparison, study on the influence of Clon the progress of carbonation is limited. During the study, concretes were exposed to independent and combined mechanisms of carbonation and ...

Thermal Properties of High-Volume Fly Ash Mortars and Concretes

As sustainability moves to the forefront of construction, the utilization of high volume fly ash concrete mixtures to reduce CO2 emissions and cement consumption per unit volume of concrete placed is receiving renewed interest. Concrete mixtures in which the fly ash replaces 50 % or more of the portland cement are both economically and technically viable. This paper focuses on a characterizatio...

Evaluation of sustainable high-volume fly ash concretes

This article presents experimental research work oriented toward developing practical design tools for industrial application, and illustrates the potential benefits of the synergistic effect of an ASTM C 618 Class F fly ash (FA) and a high-range polycarboxylate superplasticizer (SP) in the production of conventional concrete. The different concretes considered in this study were produced with ...
